About Kirk Major
Meet Kirk Major: The Heart and Soul of Tired Valley Retrievers
Kirk Major, the dedicated owner and Head Trainer of Tired Valley Retrievers, embarked on his journey in the sporting dog community in 1992 with his first working Labrador Retriever, Andy. His passion for retrievers grew, leading him to make a life-changing decision in 2021: leaving his career at State Farm to follow his true calling in retriever training.

A Journey of Dedication and Excellence
Kirk began training retrievers and competing in hunt tests and field trials in 2012 as an amateur with his personal dogs. In 2021, he made a career change to training field trial retrievers full-time.
Kirk honed his skills under the expert mentorship of Wayne Curtis at Fox Hollow Retrievers and Steve Yozamp at Outback Retrievers, where he served as an assistant trainer.

Active and Respected in the Retriever Community
Kirk's involvement in the retriever community goes beyond training. He has chaired, judged, worked, and competed at trials across the country, contributing his knowledge and passion to all facets of the sport. His dedication and leadership have earned him respect and admiration within the community.
